Further Description

First Drawstring Bag| Take Aim at Comfort and Fashion

A drawstring bag is also called a cinch bag or drawstring backpack. It is adjusted using a drawstring closure. The drawstring closure runs along the top of the bag. You pull the drawstring closure to close the bag. You also pull the drawstring closure apart at the top when you want to access the items kept inside the bag. Some drawstring bags feature front zippered pockets or mesh side pockets for water bottles.

Aside from closing and opening the bag, the drawstring closure functions as a handle in order for the bag to be carried by hand. Alternatively, the drawstring closure functions as shoulder slings in order that the bag can be worn similar to a backpack.

First Drawstring Bag is waterproof, lightweight, malleable, easy to access, and significantly durable. The drawstring bag apparently does not have the structure of heavier backpacks. The bag is also easy to wash.

Engineering Materials Used

First Drawstring Bag is made from waterproof 100% polyester woven fabric with high-quality metal grommets and rope (soft drawcord).

Note that a grommet is an eyelet inserted in a hole. The grommet is meant to safeguard/insulate a rope/cable as it passes through the hole. Or, the grommet is meant to strengthen the hole.

Please also note: A cord can also be called a rope. The cord is a group of plies/yarns/fibers/strands. The plies/yarns/fibers/strands are twisted or braided together to form a bigger and stronger (higher tensile strength) form.

The polyester fibers of the waterproof polyester woven fabric are of high quality and tightly woven. The tight weave creates a dense and strong fabric. The fabric is coated with polyurethane. It is this coating that makes the fabric waterproof. The waterproof fabric also boasts superior abrasion resistance. The fabric is thus perfect for manufacturing First Drawstring Bags that will endure the rigors of everyday use.

The texture of the waterproof adds style to the bags. Henceforth, the bags will look new for a long timeframe. The polyurethane coating offers an additional layer of protection for your different belongings. As a result, the belongings remain dry and safe in both dry and wet conditions. Even more, the fabric is simple to clean.

The weave used in making the polyester fabric could be 600D Oxford. The 600D Oxford polyurethane (PU) coated fabric is waterproof and versatile in that apart from drawstring bags, it can also be utilized in making other bags, such as backpacks, duffel, tote, and messenger bags. The PU coated fabric comes in different colors. You are thus empowered to select a color/s that suits your style.

One of the outstanding features of this fabric is its waterproofing capability. The polyurethane (PU) coating provides an extra layer of protection for your belongings, ensuring they stay dry and safe even in wet conditions. The fabric is also easy to clean, making it an ideal choice for travel bags and adventure gear.

Or, the waterproof fabric could be made from 100% nylon 210D coated with polyurethane.

Nylon is suitable for numerous indoor and outdoor products. Some of the reasons are due to its durability and versatility. An additional reason is due to nylon resistance to wear and tear.

It is worthwhile to mention that there is a difference between 210T nylon and 210D nylon.

T in 210T symbolizes thread count in a fabric. It measures density – it indicates the number of threads (yarns) closely woven together per square inch. The thread count comprises both the warp (lengthwise) and weft (crosswise).

D in 210D nylon symbolizes denier. Denier is a unit of measurement. It describes yarn thickness – it is the mass in grams per 9,000 meters of yarn. As a matter of fact, 210D is a lightweight fabric. It is frequently used to manufacture bags, outdoor gear, and backpacks.

The thread count of 210D fabrics can vary from 100T to 135T. For 210T fabrics, the denier can vary from 60D to 75D.

210D fabric has much thicker yarn than 210T – roughly three times as thick as 210T. By contrast, 210T density is twice that of 210D.

The two fabrics should be made more comparable through naming them fully by incorporating their denier and thread count. An example is 210D 100T Nylon. Another example is 75D 210 T Nylon.

Is Nylon 210T waterproof?

It depends on two factors, one of which is surface treatment. The other factor is coating. Nylon 210T is water resistant. It means that with time, it will soak water through. Without waterproof coating, nylon 210T is suitable for products needing breathability. Nylon 210T becomes waterproof after the application of polyurethane and other fabric coatings.

Comparison of Nylon 210T and Nylon 210D

Apparently, the two types of nylon differ in terms of density and yarn thickness. 210D nylon yarn is thicker in comparison to nylon 210T -- and durable than 210T. Hence, 210D is more resistant to abrasion and stronger. 210D is suitable for products needing durability and strength. Examples of those products are backpacks and baggage.

Being lightweight, 210T nylon is also a highly dense fabric. During textile finishing, surface treatment and coating can be fulfilled on nylon 210T fabric. The resultant fabric can be utilized in making tents, lightweight jackets, raincoats, windbreakers, umbrellas, and more outdoor apparel.

In short, 210D nylon fabric is suitable for manufacturing tough and durable products. 210T nylon is suitable for lightweight outdoor items.

Types of Fabric Coatings

Textile engineers apply fabric coatings to fabrics with the main objective of making the fabrics repellent to water, dirt, stains, and more.

Some fabric coatings may also enhance fabric strength in addition to durability.

1. Polyurethane Coating

Polyurethane coating is commonly applied to nylon fabrics in order to make the nylon fabrics waterproof. A thin layer of the coating is applied to the interior or exterior of the fabrics.

2. Durable Water Repellent Coatings: C8, C6, and C0

The designations of these fabric coatings mean the number of carbon atoms within the chemical structure of each of the three coatings.

The number of carbon atoms influences the water-repelling effectiveness of the coatings – and environmental impact.

a. C8 Coatings: C8 coatings were in the past the standard in water repellence. The reason is because of their high effectiveness. Nevertheless, the C8 coatings have long-chain perfluorinated compounds. Hence, the coatings raise serious health and environmental concerns. These concerns have led to a reduction in their use.

b. C6 Coatings: C6 coatings were created to neutralize the health and environmental concerns of C8 coatings. The C6 coatings have shorter-chain compounds. Nevertheless, there are still some concerns regarding their general safety.

c. C0 Coatings: C0 coatings are a major shift to sustainability. They are the new frontier as far as the durable water repellent technology is concerned. The coatings do not feature perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances. As such, C0 coatings provide waterproofing with negligible environmental footprint. The C0 coatings are a significant step towards elimination of organic pollutants in the world. The C0 coatings are perfect for coating nylon 210T fabric and nylon 210D fabric. The C0 coatings can make those fabrics to maintain their functional merits (including strength and being lightweight) without undermining health and environmental safety.

Cleaning Drawstring Bags

Cleaning your First Drawstring Bag does not have to be complex. Follow the following steps to realize a pristine outcome:

Step 1: Clear Away Loose Dirt and Debris

Before washing, remove loose dirt and dust. Turn the drawstring bag inside out. Then, shake it over a trash bin to eliminate crumbs and debris trapped inside the fabric. If necessary, utilize a wet cleaning soft-bristle brush to clean the inner lining.

Step 2: Pre-Treat Stains (If Necessary)

If your drawstring bag has visible stains, pre-treat the stains prior to washing to enhance stain removal.

a. Greasy and/or oily stains: For these stains, use watered-down paint thinner formula (or mineral spirit, mineral turpentine, petroleum spirit, turpentine substitute, solvent naphtha, or white spirit) and a clean upholstery wet cleaning towel/sponge/glove.

Pour a small amount of paint thinner in a container. Then, add equal amount of water.

Dip an upholstery wet cleaning towel/sponge/glove in the container containing the watered-down paint thinner (or the mineral spirit, mineral turpentine, petroleum spirit, turpentine substitute, solvent naphtha, or white spirit), and gently rub it into the stain. Sprinkle salt, baking soda, or cornmeal on the stain. Then, allow it to sit overnight (or several hours).

Then, vacuum this section. Or, use fresh, damp upholstery wet cleaning towel/sponge/glove to gently rub only the stain area.

b. Ink stains: Remove ink stain/s by using rubbing alcohol mixed with water – or by using hand sanitizer. Spray (apply) the solution (or the hand sanitizer) on the stain. Allow the solution to sit for up to several minutes.

Then, blot cautiously using damp, clean upholstery wet cleaning towel/sponge/glove.

Please note: Blot means you should not wipe; instead, gently press the microfiber towel on the stain for the towel to absorb. Blotting cautiously helps to avoid spreading the stain onto the fabric.

c. Sweat stains: Mix mild detergent with warm water and apply the mixture on the stains. Let it sit for several minutes. Then, rinse.

d. Coffee and other drinks, food, and mud stains: Dilute the stain using cool water. Then, blot using upholstery wet cleaning towel/glove. Dab (apply) some upholstery cleaner (such as cloth upholstery cleaner).

Allow it to sit for five (5) to 15 minutes. Blot again using upholstery wet cleaning towel/glove to lift up more of the stain.

The stain could still be visible. Hence, apply some upholstery cleaner using an upholstery wet cleaning towel/glove. Then, add some warm water. Rinse using a clean upholstery rinsing towel/glove.

e. Blood stains: With blood stains, do not use hot water or upholstery cleaner, because doing so will set the stains.

Choose clean upholstery wet cleaning towel/sponge/glove. Soak the towel/sponge/glove in cool water. Then, blot the towel/sponge/glove on the blood stain.

Rinse the towel/sponge/glove in cool water. Again, blot as desired until the stain lifts from the upholstery.

For more set-in period blood stains, use a solution of 20% volume hydrogen peroxide. Dilute this solution, 1 part to 6 parts cool water.

Soak upholstery wet cleaning towel/sponge/glove in the diluted solution. Then, blot at the blood stains.

6. Dye stains: These are the stains that bleed or transmit color onto your seat. Spot-treat these stains using a paste of dry oxygen-based bleach and a few drops of water.

Apply the paste over the stained area. Let it work for at least one (1) hour.

Vacuum away the powder. Or, wipe away using upholstery wet cleaning towel/sponge/glove. Repeat as desired.

If your drawstring bag does not have the stains, skip this step and progress to washing.

Step 3: Hand Wash or Machine Wash

Machine Washing

1. Place the drawstring bag/s inside First Mesh Laundry Bag to prevent drawstring tangling (to protect the bag during the cycle).

2. Use gentle cycle – with cool water and mild detergent: A mild detergent will serve to protect the bag fabric and colors. Please do not use bleach or fabric softeners. The reason is that they can weaken the bag. Generally, avoid harsh chemicals that can discolor or damage the bag. Tellingly, hot water may color fade and shrink delicate fabrics.

3. Once washed, remove it from the washing machine. Then, reshape it before air drying.

Hand Washing

1. Fill a basin or sink with cool water and add mild detergent. Make sure the detergent is uniformly distributed in the water by swishing the water around gently to disperse the detergent.

2. Submerge the bag. Gently scrub it with a wet cleaning soft-bristle brush or car carpet and mat wet cleaning rigid wire sponge, concentrating on dirty areas. Please note: Scrubbing too hard can wear down the drawstring bag.

3. Rinse comprehensively with clean water to eliminate all detergent residues.

4. Optionally, gently squeeze out surplus water using Dry Winds Clothe Drying Towel from First: Please do not wring or twist the bag.

Step 4: Reshape and Dry the Bag

After washing the bag, reshape it to its initial form and smooth out wrinkles. Next, let it air dry within a well-ventilated area.

Drying it direct sunlight or using high heat is not recommended. The reason is that it may cause fabric deformation or fading.

Ensure the dry is totally dry before storing. Doing so will help to prevent odors (caused by nasty bacteria) and mold growth.

Correct Storage of First Drawstring Bag

Both correct drying and storage aid in sustaining the shape and durability of your drawstring bag.

Keep the bag away from humid areas, including basements. Please do not also keep the bag in enclosed spaces having poor airflow.

Avoid exposing the bag to heat to prevent material deterioration (Keep it away from heaters, radiators, and other direct heat sources).
